Position Summary
IGI is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to support the reliability and continuous operation of plant equipment and utility systems. This position is primarily responsible for executing preventive maintenance activities, improving equipment reliability, and proactively identifying potential issues before failures occur.
The ideal candidate is a self-directed maintenance professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Due to the nature of our operations, extensive experience with industrial piping systems, steam systems, valves, and rotating equipment is highly desired.
Particular emphasis is placed on preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and long-term reliability improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute preventive maintenance activities on production equipment and plant utility systems.
- Perform inspections and condition assessments to identify and address equipment issues before failures occur.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems and determine root causes to improve equipment reliability.
- Repair and maintain pumps, agitators, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, seals, and other rotating equipment.
- Perform shaft alignments, bearing replacements, seal replacements, and coupling installations.
- Install, modify, and repair industrial piping systems including threaded, flanged, and welded connections.
- Maintain and troubleshoot steam systems, condensate systems, pressure regulators, steam traps, valves, strainers, and tracing systems.
- Perform pipe fitting activities including layout, measurements, fabrication, and installation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Support equipment installations, tank repairs, and plant improvement projects.
- Assist with fabrication and welding activities as required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and document equipment conditions.
- Follow OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and all plant safety requirements.
- Support and maintain housekeeping standards in accordance with 5S principles.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Proven experience performing preventive maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Extensive experience with pumps, agitators, motors, gearboxes, bearings, seals, and rotating equipment.
- Experience installing, repairing, and modifying industrial piping systems.
- Experience working with valves, steam traps, pressure regulators, and utility systems.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and alignment techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and sound decision-making skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and equipment reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pipe fitting experience strongly preferred and highly valued.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems.
- Experience in chemical, refinery, wax, food processing, or heavy manufacturing industries.
- Experience with steam and condensate systems.
- Experience with tanks, agitators, and process equipment.
- Forklift and aerial lift experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, and outdoor conditions as required.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when necessary.
Work Schedule
- Full-Time, Direct Hire
- Monday – Friday
- Occasional overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs as required.
